From the Prez

Boy, Iíll tell you; this year has not gotten off to a great start for me personally. I think that all of the turmoil from last year must be finally catching up with me. Between catching the flu and then the food poisoning, itís just been a tough start to the year physically.

However, the weather is beginning to change and spring is just around the corner. Things are going to change for the better and I can feel it coming on strong! The Corvette season is nearly upon us!

Having something to look forward to is more than 90% of the battle of life! Being a member of this great club always keeps me inspired and keeps me looking forward! Do you know or realize why that is? Itís simple, really. Itís ALL of you! Your collective energy, vision, friendship and can do attitude are not only what makes this club what it is, but keeps driving me forward even as I stumble. Thanks for being my special life support system! You have no idea how privileged I feel to be a member of this fabulous group.

That said, itís time to break out the jumper cables (at least for some of us anyway), breath fresh life into our slumbering babes, put a fresh tank of gas in Ďem, hook up the hose and give Ďem their first bath of the year and prepare them for the great season ahead!

The season awaits us! Letís once again show everyone why weíre the best Corvette club in the world!

Save the Wave!

Misc. ramblings from the Editor

Hi Everyone,

Well, as promised, I'm cutting this close.  Vacation was great - did you know you can see the London Bridge without a passport?  And the bridge that will bypass the Hoover Dam - is really coming along.  I don't have a problem driving across the dam.  However, that new bridge - I'm not sure you'll get me on that when it is done- very scary.   And as for Vegas - I once again returned with too little sleep, and sore feet.  My sister and I did see a couple of shows - LOVE (Beatles Cirque show) was very good. The one I enjoyed most was Mama Mia.  Hilarious and very well done.  Anyway - short newsletter this month.  Corvette social and competition activities are getting ready to ramp up - so get your rest and lets have a great season.

Nancy B.

Snow Big Deal Rally Wrap Up
Everyone enjoyed the rally and McCabeís was a great place to hold the event. This 2008 rally had the biggest attendance to date! Great competition between the Konchakís and the Bauerís!

Two different dates were set up for this year, Saturday 5/24 and Sunday 9/28.Payment for each race was voted on and approved. April 19th & 20th there is an event in Tulsa, OK. An autocross in La Junta with DCA will be held on 8/2 & 8/3. High Plains race track should happen sometime this year.

No one has expressed interest in drag racing this year. Club drag racers may join with Alex Nelsonís Rocky Mountain Corvette team this year.

There was a CA. winner for the "Build your own corvette" raffle. C5/C6 Bash at the Museum is in April.

Club News:

New Members: A big DtRC welcome to Mike & Martha P. who joined at the last meeting.  They own a 2005 LeMans Blue Convertible (sorry all you "All Corvettes are Red" fans - LeMans Blue is this editor's favorite color)

March Birthdays: 25th - Joe B.

Club Directories - are done and will be available this week at the meeting.

Donna's '57 - Donna B. was kind enough to send some pictures of the painted piece parts of her '57 - I'll forward them and the email on to the club.  As most of us are driving C4's, C5's and C6's it is quite exciting to follow the progress of the '57 as it undergoes it's restoration.  Thanks for sharing Donna.

Upcoming Events
Remember a current schedule of NCCC events, access to flyers, event results and regional points standings can be found at www.rmrnccc.org .

Annual St. Paddy's Day Party - Mike & Mary D's - March 15th

Mike & Mary are hosting their annual St Patrick's Day Open House (yummy - I can't wait - I'm looking forward to all the Irish Food and Drink). The time is 2:00 - ????  Please RSVP by March 10th to Mary at either their home phone or her cell phone (or at the meeting on Thursday).  Their address and phone #s are in the club directory.  Mary will also have flyers available at the meeting.

DtRC April Fool's Rally & Charity Poker Hand Car Show - April 6th

Mark your Calendars.  This is one of the clubs most energetic and fun events of the year, and one that takes a lot of work.  This year Tim & Pat B. and Phil O. are the chairs.  You should have all received Tim's email that those interested in working on the route should meet on the 24th (this Sunday) at 10 am.  The "where" was in the email.  Remember, the club needs as many of you as are available to come work - and it is always a lot of fun.  More on this at the meeting.  For those non-club members that may be reading this - the flyer should be out shortly - mark your calendars and we'll get you all the details real soon.

March 8th - Regional Awards Banquet

The flyer for the Banquet is on the regional website - www.rmrnccc.org - the pre-sign up deadline is checks postmarked by February 25th - see the flyer for the address to send them to.  It is at the Embassy Suites again (same place as the last two years).  Cost is $35 for pre-registered, $40 day of the banquet.  They have special room rates at the Embassy Suites if anyone want to make a nice weekend of it.  All the details are on the flyer, and there is a menu available on the website also.  This is always a great time and a great place to get to know the other region members in a social environment.

Miscellaneous Race Stuff -
From Bill M.

A group of people from the area went out to a track day at Spring Mountain a couple of weekends ago.  Check out the video from the track at  http://www.rmcorvette.com/E_News/track.htm .

The Tulsa club is having some events at the track in Hallett in preparation for the hosting the National Convention.  It is the weekend of April 19-20.  Bill says it will probably be at least 2 High Speeds - but there is no flyer posted yet.  There are several people from the region planning on going.  Bill will have more details after the flyer comes out with the event times, etc.

Committee Updates

Social Committee

Don't forget to RSVP to Mary D. for the St. Paddy's day open house.  Anyone that is willing to organize a social event please contact MaryKay K., Deana D. or Carol A.  They can also help with suggestions and date coordination.

And a big thank you to all who provided snacks for the meetings last year.

NCCC Membership Info

You should have all received your NCCC membership packets by now.  Most of you were at the last meeting and received your pins and calendars from me.  For those not at the last meeting - I have your pins and calendars.

NCCC National Convention - Tulsa Oklahoma - June 21 - 27

This would be a good road trip to go to.  It is one of the closer locations for Convention.  It will be a very good experience for those who have not been before to find out "what it is all about" in preparation for the Rocky Mountain Region Clubs hosting the 2009 Convention, and there will be some great racing.  For all the details see the NCCC website - www.corvettesnccc.org .  The price increase date cut-offs are March 15, May 1, and After May 2nd.  The earlier you register the more you save.

50th Annual National Convention - August 7 - 14, 2009  - RMR - Colorado Springs, CO

If you would like to help with the planning of this event please contact Walt Jenkins from CSCC or John Maxwell.  And while we know many of you can't help with the planning, it will take tremendous resources from the region to put on another successful convention.  Please mark your calendars.  As it gets closer they will be soliciting workers for the various events.  I'm sure next August will be here before we know it.  Plan to come out and have some fun.  The last I heard from John, there were still a couple of chair positions open, we'll ask him for a convention update at the meeting.

CWCC June AutoCross -
Please note that the June 1st AutoCross held by CWCC will not be at the Fruita High School as usual.  CWCC has the Grand Junction Go-Kart track for this day - and will host two low speeds on that day.  The track is approximately .8 miles long.  A very nice change from the Fruita HS Parking Lot and it should be a lot of fun.

Other NCCC RMR Events
Flyers are appearing on the regional website - www.rmrnccc.org - a copy of that calendar as it stands today is at the end of this newsletter.  For Flyer info and to get the latest and greatest calendar info - check back on the regional website often.

Drag Racing Report

Merchandise Report

The merchandise committee had a lot of cool new samples for sale last month.  Make sure to check it out.  There are always several items ready to take home. Or you can order any of the merchandise in your size & color.

This year's merchandise committee is composed of Jackie M and Tanya R.  If you need any merchandise or have any ideas - let them know.

NCM Ambassadorís Report
John H. has graciously agreed to be the club's NCM Ambassador.  He didn't send in anything this month but I'm sure will talk about current Museum activities at the club meeting.

For the latest news and goings on at the museum go to http://www.corvettemuseum.com/

Please check the Regional Website - www.rmrnccc.org for the latest regional schedule.  If events are added or dates changed - it will be current there.  The regional website will also contain links to the event flyers as they become available.
