Miscellaneous ramblings from the President

Howdy!!
As I sit here in my recliner I keep looking at the outside thermometer. It has crept up to 28 degrees! I will continue to watch it in anticipation of warmer weather and the physical start to the 2013 Corvette season. In a couple of weeks we will all get to see the new C7. I hope we are not disappointed. It will be interesting to see if the “somewhat ugly” spy photos are even close.  I wonder which of us will be the first to own one? One of you needs to step up and buy one so we can all test it and see if it’s worth buying, i.e. a Guiney pig.

It looks like we are going to have an exciting year. Looking ahead there seems to be something going on every weekend. Cathy and I are hoping we can get away this year to take a road trip or two. We still regret not being able to go to Topeka. If you have anything in mind be sure to bring it up at our next meeting, maybe we can get a caravan together. I really look forward to our rallies, auto cross and car show. I know they all take a lot of work and sometimes things get a little intense but looking back they all are fun to look back on. “Building memories”.

Don’t forget we are having officer elections at the next meeting. I will print ballets before the meeting but you can still nominate someone if you want. We can just add the name to the ballet at the meeting. We will hold the election first thing so the new officers, if any, can take over.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone, hopefully you can make it to the first meeting of 2013!!!!!

Bill

National Corvette Museum Report:

NEW MEMBERSHIP CHALLENGE

I thought I’d give you details about the NCM’s  One + One Membership Challenge that I mentioned at the October meeting.  The museum believes that its members provide some of the best marketing for its programs and services.

As an incentive to new members and to thank current members, the museum’s membership drive features a drawing for several gifts and prizes.  Each time a member recruits a new member, both of you will be entered to win.  The promotion runs through April 27, 2013, the date of the annual NCM Bash in Bowling Green, Ky.  Prizes include a 2-day Bondurant Z06 Driving Experience, golf package, free hexagon bricks, your car displayed in the NCM’s rotating display (of course, you and your car will need to be at the Bash), and more.

There are two types of membership: an on-line membership (E-membership) at a special annual rate of $25, for enthusiasts who may not be able to visit, that includes 5% discount on Corvette Store merchandise and a subscription to the weekly newsletter, NCM eNews.   The second type includes various levels of membership: Lifetime, Family, Individual, Senior Individual, Lifetime Business/Club and Business/Club, each category with its own set of benefits.  Memberships begin at $50 per year and are tax deductible as NCM is non-profit.

You can become a member on-line or by phone (link and phone number above).  If you’re already a member of both DtRC and NCM, why not recruit a new member!  When signing up, please reference DtRC and the recruiter (my name if my presentations at monthly meetings, events or newsletter article recruited you), or let me know that you’ve become a member, renewed membership, re-joined, and/or have recruited a new member.
