Miscellaneous ramblings from the President

Well, here we are!!!!! Headed in to a new Corvette season!! Its been a long winter but I think I see light at the end of the tunnel. Events are already lining up. Keep an eye on your emails as things are popping up all the time. Les and Kelly are putting together a trip over Memorial Day weekend. CSCC and SCCC are putting together go cart races etc. Les and Kelly are really working hard on the April Fool rally, let’s all help them when they need it. This is not an easy event to host so I know they will appreciate input from all of us.

I am really looking forward to a great Corvette summer with all our “premier” members. A couple of road trips are in the works, some have already questioned mystery meals, it sounds like it is going to be very busy!

We are having elections at the January meeting. Be sure to come out and vote. The following are the nominees as of our October 2013 meeting. You will notice that Gail is not running for treasure this year. Gail says it appears she is going to be very busy next summer and is not sure she can perform the job as treasure the way she would like. I commend her for making this decision. Gail has done an outstanding job over the years and leaves mighty big shoes to fill!

PREMIERE CONVERTIBLE,  Z06,  & MORE .....
Premiere Corvettes … the 500-unit Premiere Edition Coupe was revealed at the National Corvette Museum’s  60th Birthday Celebration June 28, 2013.  On December 3, 2013, Chevrolet announced that the 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition Convertible will be available in early 2014.   The convertible, limited to 550 units, promises to deliver an enthusiastic Premiere encore!

The convertible's Lime Rock Green exterior and tan top will be complemented by a Brownstone suede interior with suede-wrapped trim and carbon-fiber accents.  Abundant features include a variable tuned performance exhaust system, Z51 performance package, magnetic selective ride control, Stingray-logo center cap wheels, unique VIN sequence and dash plaques, and 5-piece Corvette-branded luggage.  The $77,450 cost includes destination and delivery fees.  The Premiere Editions can't be ordered, but will be shipped to select dealers.

Chevrolet  introduced the 2015 Corvette Z06 at the North American International Auto show in Detroit in January.  It will be the most track-capable Corvette ever, designed to deliver supercar levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamics.  According to NCM personnel, the Z06 may be on display at the  Museum's annual bash next April.

NCM has announced the three inductees to its Hall of Fame for the 20th anniversary celebration over Labor Day 2014:  Jerry Burton, John Heinricy, and Dave MacDonald.... more details next month.
