Hello Everyone,
I hope that you are all having a fantastic Corvette season. It's been really hot outside and definitely top-down weather. I want to thank all of you for coming out to help work the autocross at the Colorado State Patrol track. I know that it's hard to give up your weekends, but as you know, we can't do it without you. Because of your generosity with your time and all of your excellent planning skills, we are known for the quality of our events.
I wish I could be at the meeting myself to thank all of you personally for your time and hard work, but a prior engagement is requiring my attendance. It's a pleasure being associated with such a great group and I am proud of my 10 year association with this group.
Keep up the great work and remember, picnic time on Saturday the 31st. It's always a great time, just remember your rain slicker.
Save the Wave.
Based on the comments I heard at yesterday's Auto-X, I think it's fair to say that our little club still knows how to put on an event! Other than an inconsiderate participant and some 4 legged critters that wanted to participate too, the event went off without a hitch. This is entirely due to the fact that we as a club all pull in the same direction and stay focused on our participants. I am very proud to say that I am a member of Down the Road Corvettes and all of you are the reason.
Say, did I mention that the yummy food prepared by all of you really differentiates our Auto-X events from most of the others and raised nearly $300 for Tim's Challenge? When you do the right things for the right reasons magic generally happens. And so it did Saturday on many different levels. Congratulations to all members who assisted with the event.
Always remember - SAVE THE WAVE!

DtRC was well represented at the Purifoy 50th Anniversary celebration and what a celebration is was!
The small own of Fort Lupton was invaded by somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 cars - mostly Corvettes. Thanks to good planning by our new Caravan Captain (don't get a swelled head Bill), those of us who joined in the DtRC caravan got to park on Main Street right in front of the dealership's main showroom. It took a tour of a three block area to see all the cars and what a selection there was. It was also great to run into old friends and former club members, some I haven't talked with in over 10 years.
The shindig included dinner from Santiago's (a local Mexican restaurant) that was darned good. The awards ceremony was very nice as well. Local dignitaries presented Rollie numerous awards and there was even a ballad written just for the occasion that everyone got to sing to the tune of "Davey Crockett". There also were a large number of door prizes handed at the end. While none of the club cars took home a trophy, our own Richard L. managed to snag a free half day driving class with Go4It Racing School. Needless to say, Richard's award will likely cost several club members some dough as well since who can turn down the opportunity to tag along and improve their own driving skills.
All in all, though it was a hot day, the event was excellent. Congratulations to the Purifoy family and Rollie for making it 50 years in a very tough business!
Don't forget about the club picnic July 31st!
Hi All,
Not much to report on the NCCC front. Everybody is busy hosting and attending events, it is a busy time event wise, but a slow time of year policy wise. There are lots of events and events results posted on the regional website - http://www.rmrnccc.org/ - check it out.
Speaking of events - we got many many great comments on how well of an event you put on today. Even the deer enjoyed it - I think they just wanted to come play with the Vettes. I hear the trailer thermometer hit 107 degrees for the outside temp (those in the trailer were in nice air conditioned comfort - although even that air conditioner was not as cold as it normally is). Official Denver temp reached 103 - so I can believe 107'ish up on that hill. Big thanks to Chairs Frank and John - wonderful job with the course, setup and making sure things ran smoothly. They work extremely hard and were there a long time before I got there (and I was the 3rd person there). Then a huge pat on the back to all of you - whether you worked corners, grid, cooked, etc. Great turnout by the club and another great event. Dave says we had 49 drivers in race one, and then a few only registered for race 1 - so roughly 45 drivers in race 2. And we were done and torn down by 4:30. Thanks for showing up and sticking it out in the heat.
Take care - we won't see you at the meeting this week - but we'll definitely be at the picnic.
