From the Prez....

Hello Fellow Corvetters,

It's about time again for another DtRC meeting and boy what a summer ender we had. From a fantastic show to many social events, we've definitely been hopping. It's not over yet...and we're always going to squeak out the last possible thing we can out of summer. Keep your eyes on the calendar, don't forget about our Sno Big Deal event and Tim's Challenge! It's always a great event and one of those experiences that you can't understand until you see it for yourself.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 23rd and bring your nominations for officers. If you're interested in a club volunteer position, don't hesitate to speak up.

See you all soon!

John Maxwell
President, DtRC

Miscellaneous ramblings from the Editor:

Where oh where did the summer go!?!?! It seems like it was just starting and now it's gone! It's been a very, very busy summer though and I hope all of you have gotten as much enjoyment out of it as you wanted to. There are a few events still on the schedule, so if you haven't gotten your fill, there is still time to get a few more in.

The Sno' Big Deal Rally/Show will break some new ground this year by combining two separate events that both support our community. By combining the Colorado Corvette Club's support of 9 Cares Colorado Shares with the Sno' Big Deal Rally/Show, we have an opportunity to have double the impact on our community. Start plannng now on how you can load up your Vette with items to donate to the food drive.

As I always say about this time of year, the one thing that distinguishes our club from others is the energy and enthusiasm we bring to all of our events. The reason we have that is that we are always encouraging our members to step into the ring and try their ideas out. The best way to get involved is to step up and take a leadership role in the club by volunteering to head up any of our events. With the pool of experience we have in the club, I can assure you that you will never fail in any leadership role you might choose to try.

I hope to see everyones smiling faces at the meeting Thursday night!

Always remember - SAVE THE WAVE!

Tim

August 28th Mystery Meal

By MaryKay Kelley

Seven Vettes, seven couples, & two Corvette doggies drove to Black Forest Inn in Nederland for great German fare. When Mike was in high school, he bussed for Al at the Ridgeview Inn in Wheat Ridge, & Mike & MaryKay have followed Al over the years to Black Hawk & now Nederland. The photo includes Inn owner Bill & chef Al, birthday boy Roger Less & Maxima, Mike & MaryKay, Roger & Deanna, Tim & Pat, Richard & Fancy, Mike & Janni, & Mike & Mary Davis.

With a little luck, and the grace of the Gods, you may - or may not - see the picture below.

A very full motley crew

I can personally testify that the drive was fabulous and so was the meal. - Tim

Tim's Challenge - 2010

By Tim Barnes

Well gang, it's time to be thinking about what if anything we want to do for Tim's Challenge this year.

Because of your extraordinary efforts so far this year, we have $800 in the bank account for the challenge. We also have the Sno' Big Deal Rally/Show coming up to raise even more funds to support our efforts. What we need now are some efforts to support! Please be considering what we should/can do this year and let's get some ideas going. John (at least according to the minutes anyway) had already said the September meeting is likely to be a long one, so let's use the time wisely. If you have ideas on families to support or ideas on other things we could do, please bring them to the meeting!

Remember, this isn't about simply helping the needy, Tim's Challenge is about possibility - creating a space into which families that have lost sight of possibility are provided an opportunity to find it again.

Governor's Report

By Nancy B.

Hi All,

It's that time of year again. We'll be collecting your club dues at the October meeting. If you can't make the meeting in October please make sure to get Cathy your check prior to November 1st. For new members, those with new cars and/or those that just want a different picture of their car in the club directory - now is the time to get that picture taken and the photos to Cathy and I. In the driveway with a half-melted snow bank on a cloudy winter day doesn't make a Corvette look its best. So when you are out and about - grab a digital photo of the car and send it. Oh yeah - people pics also. If you have one of yourself that you want in the directory - email it to us. Otherwise - we get to choose.

It is also almost time for the Torca All Hallow's eve rallye - an event that our club usually gets the most non-host club participation mention. The date is October 17th. I used to be able to put this info in the October newsletter but they have moved it up a few weeks the last couple of years after getting bit by mother nature having it the weekend before Halloween. The start is at "The Sub Factory" in Longmont. And this year they are letting us know the start and end location are the same (vs. ending almost in Wyoming like last year ☺ ). If you are pre-registering - they must receive it by Oct. 13th. It is $5 cheaper if you pre-register, and lunch is included. See the flyer and registration form for all the details including a map to the start.

NCCC wise - the events/flyers/results and standings all get posted to the regional website - www.rmrnccc.org . There are several rule book changes that the governors will be voting on at the next meeting (most of us by proxy to our RE). Most are minor. The one that would affect members of our club the most is the RCD committee is recommending the rulebook change to remove the fire extinguisher requirement in a Group II car for low speed events. So if you have a group II car and aren't racing this year - but thinking about it for next year - and you didn't want the extinguisher anyway - hold off on it. It will still be required for high speed events in all cars and in group III cars at all races. If anyone is interested in seeing all the proposed changes let me know and I'll email them to you. Oh - and if you are buying a 2011 carbon edition Z06 or a 2011 z06 with the Z07 package (whatever either of these are ☺ ) - you'll be placed in class "N" with the ZR1's. Other than that - it is minor cleanup, and some relaxation now that there is electronic mail on the dates national sanction requests have to be in.

As always - have fun and be safe.
